    1. Can somone please help me? I couldn't find a way to write a comment without it being a reply, so sorry. The problem is that from 2 different download sources, after following the directions, upon clicking on the WtP icon, a message appears that says "This application has failed to start because d3dx9_43.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem", followed by another message that says "Welcome to Ponyville.exe has stopped working". I plan to get a new PC soon, which may fix this problem, but just in case, does anyone know what this problem is or how to fix it?

    2. Hey dude, you're missing a DirectX file. Just google it, download it and put it in the launcher's folder. That should work.

I'm not sure if it will or won't work on your new computer, but incase it doesn't, just do the same as with your current one.

  18. Aaaaand cliff hanger... How am I not suprised?

    Anyways!

This first act is full of AWESOMENES! and yes. That is a word... I think.

Good work guys! I'm already checking this site every single hour for a new act to come up... Exited much?

    1. Post about technical issues in the FAQ section and our tech guy will get to you as soon as he can. The best thing I can recommend is making sure the entire contents of the game are extracted to the same folder, not just the launch application, and restart the computer. Sorry, I'm not the programmer but I'll let him know of the error.

      Delete
    2. For some reason it doesn't seem to be in the extracted folders. However, if you can find it in another folder on your computer, that would work.

Ideally you should be able to find another copy of the file by doing a subdirectory search from root.

Try running cmd.exe and typing the following:

      cd /[return]
      dir d3dx9_43.dll /s[return]

If you happen to find another copy of the file, just copy it into the folder where you extracted the game. Whether you want to copy the file via Windows Explorer or the command line.

If you have any other questions, ask.

    1. It's the credits sequence. Some machines don't like running it. Please address technical issues to the FAQ section. Usually, simply restarting the application will cause it to work just fine. Literally the only thing you're not getting is the credits. If the problem persists let us know on the FAQ section.

      Delete
    2. So. You guys have a credit sequence every time a act ends/starts?

      Its just like Asuras Wrath!

      Awesome!

  21. So freaking happy.
Just finished my first playthrough. That was so great.
...Now I can't wait for Act 2, but you guys deserve some recoup time.
Though when the credits started rolling I literally screamed at my computer screen... lol

    ReplyDelete
  22. So, I'm a little confused. Love it, but... there was something about... your custom engine making it never the exact same game twice or some such? I went through three playthroughs, that were all... exactly the same. I don't know if I misunderstood something, or something's not working for me, or if those 'never the same thing twice' parts don't kick in until Part 2, or... what. Anything to clear up whatever it is, appreciated.

  26. It was much shorter than I expected :( I guess I'd better wait until you release all the acts.
BTW, I agree with Marvelous TK, It seemed like the game forced me to visit all locations and the dialogue choices were only/mostly changing the ponies' attitude towards me.
On the bright side, I just love how you portrayed the Doctor and Octavia!

    1. There are some variations in the first act, it just takes the right choices to bring them out. For example, there is more than one ending. And separate subtle hints into the players backstory depending on species, along with special dialogue sets only available to certain species, genders, and previous decisions. With the first act, the player is still building alignment and friendship points as it is only the introductory act. Due to this, we are only able to take the pathing system so far. Please keep in mind this is a small small taste of things to come.

      Delete
    2. I know, I didn't expect too many interactions, it's just the first act after all. But after playing some other visual novels I imagined it to be a little... bigger? (also, I'm still a bit confused about the lack of anything inventory screen-ish. Even a simple map with a number of bits owned and a list of relationships would be nice)
Don't get me wrong, it's still great and I can't wait for more :D

  48. I'm actually a little disappointed in the game. While there is nothing wrong with it and I do like how it's done, it was too short. It took less than two hours to complete the story as it exists now and it ended rather abruptly. To be honest, I think you should have waited a bit longer and combined acts 1 and 2 into one big package. Then it would be long enough to enjoy.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I really, really dug this. Great stuff with some generally great voice acting. You even managed to make me like Trixie. I'm definitely looking forward to more, though I hope Act 2 opens things up a bit more.

    ReplyDelete
  50. The website's for the direct downloads aren't working

    ReplyDelete
  51. I REALLY enjoyed this, but I have to agree with the complaint that it felt too short. I can totally understand why it had to be trimmed back, but it seemed to cut out at the point where I was really starting to get immersed, and now I really, really, REALLY want to know what happened next!

I guess that coudld be considered a good thing though. I loved where this was going, and how accurate so many of the characters felt, and I'm most certaintly going to be hanging out for the next act!

    ReplyDelete
  52. The only thing that sucks is that you can't choose your species other than pony. I for one enjoy having the option of playing as a griffon, minotaur, or better yet, a dragon (around Spike's age).

I'm dissapointed due to this. Truly.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I have the dumbest grin on my face right now.

This is pretty awesome. some VA seems a little stiff, but I'm more than willing to let it slide.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Had a crash issue. Shortly after cheering up Trixie, Twilight came to my town house. Halfway through her voice acting cut out, but the music kept playing. I don't -think- I pressed M, but I may have klutz fingers. Shortly after, I chased Angel to a broken bridge in a dream-ish sequence. At the bridge, the program stopped responding and caused the program to "terminate unexpectedly."

Any additional info you need, let me know. From what I saw so far, I will absolutely LOVE this game! You guys did a good job, and you deserve the best.

    1. Few suggestions:
Some of the credits were disorganized. Someone was right-justified when others were centered, Gilda has no voice actress, etc. Also, I'm not sure I agree with that choice of credits music. The rest is great, though.

      Humble Suggestion:
Introduce voice acting for the player character. Players can choose from one of (x) voices once they've chosen their gender with samples. If the player doesn't like any of them, they can just choose "none." It gives the community a chance to get a bit more involved in the project, while also adding a new element of customization. Maybe accents can be included, ever-so-slightly adjusting the player-character text to fit? Any new files once this update drops will have an earmark; any files without this earmark will be redirected to a "choose a voice" screen, so that people don't have to reset their profiles to get in on the character voices.
...Looking at that in text form looks rather daunting though... Just a suggestion to consider.

5/5 to ya, fillygamez. You've sketched the outlines of your Mona Lisa. Time to go Da Vinci on this mother.

  60. Just completed my third playthrough of the game. It reminds me of a Telltale Games installment, even though it's over fairly quickly after two hours or so it's still pretty engrossing going through repeatedly. Can't wait for the next installment to find out more about these dreams and (Derpy and Fleur aside) working on upgrading my relations with the other ponies up from acquaintances to friends (and maybe moreso with a certain beautiful badass rainbow-maned pegasus... *ahem*) Anyway, excellent game and really looking forward to Act II!

  62. This was amazing. Really enjoyed through the entire 2 hours I played. There are some very little flaws here and there, but none got me down from hyped-mode. I had a big grin the entire time I was playing.

Anyway, thank you guys REALLY MUCH for this! It was beautiful, and I really appreciate your effort. Can't wait to Act II!

  63. This was great, I was really suprised at meeting all these different ponies, I only really expected the maincharacters of the show.
A few moments were really funny and I will play it a few more times.
Can't wait for the next version or the "full version" one day.

There're a few minor things I didn't like that much.
The fade-in/fade-out screen-transitions are kind of slow, especially in one of the dream sequences (that one with the smiling pony) it was annoying.
And the other is that while it was awesome to meet so many ponies, you make acquaintance after acquaintance without much opportunity to actually interact with them.
And a few more options would be great. Like when I helped Fluttershy I didn't even really want her to pay me, just didn't feel right, but it wasn't an option.

Still, this game has so much potential for the future and everything, thanks for creating this game :D

  65. Ah also, btw.
The credits contain some serious spoiler about who will appear in the future.
Don't even know if it is a spoiler of if all the characteres were already announced. I at least had no idea who I will meet in the future.

  66. This is great. Cracked me up several times, and the song that came in when you met Rainbow Dash was awesome. I can't wait till it's all done. The whole team should feel proud!

A few complaints though: Some of the voice actors need a better microphone, but can't blame anyone, it's expected from this type of project; Most of the voices were good, but the voice for Scootaloo bugged me. She sounded older than she is; Rainbow Dash felt a bit over-exaggerated, and Derpy too, but I guess that was the point.

Again, you all did a good job, and I'm looking forward for the next parts!

    ReplyDelete
  67. May as well say it here, it's already proven to be an immensely fun game, which I can hardly wait for more of. And while I'm not normally a fan of scary things, the creepy nightmares really add to the enjoyment.

  70. I don't know what to say other than you have my everlasting gratitude.
-The voice acting was top notch.
-The fact that it took into account that I'm a pegasus. (I always found it annoying in second person fics that the least used protagonists are pegasi.)
-The in-jokes, Sweet Celestia the in-jokes! The Doctor, the "power of the solid", Vinyl and Octavia's mannerisms, Seth!
-Those nightmare sequences . . . HOLY BUCKING SHIT! They were scary!
You hear that distant sound? That's not two coconuts, that's me clapping my hooves in approval so hard you can hear it wherever you are!

    ReplyDelete
  71. Hey guys, just one "tiny" little question. Is there anyway to delete a profile?

    ReplyDelete
  72. Loved the game so far. There were surprisingly many dialogues that took the character choice into account, which really improved immersion. The voice acting is also great. Both Twilight and Rarity were spot-on.

Some things that could be improved:

    - The furniture in the player's house fades out along with the character sprites, which is distracting. You could include them in the background image, then have the game pick the appropriate background. They'd fade along with the rest of the house that way.

    - Some of Applejack's sprites have lighter colors. These could be corrected so her colors would be consistent.

    - The engine is missing quite a few standard VN features. Pressing enter to advance, holding ctrl to skip, space to clear the window, manual saves and a full screen toggle would all be useful.

    - Some of the backgrounds have black borders, some don't. The sprites are sometimes placed on these borders, making it look like the characters are standing on emptiness. The widescreen ones could be cropped for better consistency. If you'll keep the borders, the sprites could be moved up so they'd be on top of the background.

    - Some of the voices are clearly louder than the others. Normalizing their volume would be good, so the player wouldn't have to adjust it themselves.

    - The writing was generally good (especially Rarity's character was captured well), but a few scenes bugged me. Derpy and Lyra seemed a bit one-dimensional, with Derpy talking about muffins and Lyra about humans a bit too much. I'm only judging them from those two short scenes, so I hope there'll be more depth to their character later. Seth's appearance was kinda out of place and jarring. The protag was heading to Trixie's show anyway, having Seth there wasn't really necessary.

I hope I didn't sound too negative. Like I said, I loved the VN overall, just mentioning these so it could be even better. I'm looking forward to the rest of the acts.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Hey, I was playing for quiet a while when the game decided that it wanted to crash. The crash happened shortly after going to bed after seeing Trixie's show with the wonderfully voiced Sethisto. When I checked the "saves" folder, it was completely empty. You can imagine how annoying this is, seeing as how I will have to go through all of that again, and I don't even know if it's going to save this time either! Please administer a manual saving feature, or at least on that actually works! That aside though, I was really enjoying the game and I would love to see more, but this...this is REALLY annoying. Please fix this problem on future releases, I'm begging you.

  75. Well, playing through it now, it's saving just fine. As long as I exit out of it regularly it seems to be ok. You should still seriously consider letting people open up a save screen while playing.

  77. I would just like to say that This was worth the long wait! I don't care what EQGaming said, Act 1 is a great starter! It may have been short, but I think that makes it better..It got my hyped up and I eagerly await the next act with high hopes for the next few acts..my only complaint is some of the voice acting..some of them Like Vinyl and Octavia are great, but I personally think Rainbow Dash could be improved a little bit..Aside from that, I look forward to Act 2 in the near future..my rating? 8/10.. Great job you two!

  78. just a question. when you update the game does it automatically update? I am assuming you just download the next act and put it in the same folder

  79. Every time I want to play it, I have to extract the files again because irrKlang.dII is missing. Every time. The game itself is wonderful. It's just that one problem gets tedious.

  88. I'm having trouble. I downloaded it, but whenever I try to open it, it says the application is not working and closes. Any idea what the problem is?

  89. I love it and i know your just developing it but... it'l be cool if you could actually walk around pony, now I know that if you really do that it'l take a lot of time, i mean the sounds the ponies have to be 3D mensional, not to mesion the plces have to be 3D mensional to if you want for the pony to walk around! But the game as it is is awesome. You should also let the game put your name so that the ponies know your name and dont call you "New Pony". And it would be nice if you add more decisions that will affect the game even more! hope you end this game is sweet! thx for everthing

  92. This was just so awesome!!! Thank you all that worked on it! *hugs*

Just wondering though; does your gender/type have an influence on who you meet; or just the decisions in your conversations?

    1. I played through as a few of the 'races' and as both genders, and it seems that gender and type only influence conversations to an extent.

Choices seem to influence things far more...like cheesing off Rainbow Dash for the lulz.

      Hope this helps.

  95. Well that was an unpleasant experience. I got about a half hour in, then realized that this game was an obvious creepypasta and shut it off for good.

Please, could you have given us more details? I *hate* creepypasta and jump scares!

I know it's just act 1, but some things I would like to see
More Pinkie: I loved her parts (especially that pinkiedash moment :P) but I am hoping for some more of her in the future.
Things like *Your map has been updated*, but I never saw a map feature.
Great work so far, also I was wondering about granny smith trying to make me hit it off with Applejack or BigMac, well that be in the future? ;)
