Message from Writers Block

Hey everypony, we've been getting a lot of emails, concerns and questions about the game. I'd like to go ahead and clear all that up, after the break.

So you're wondering what exactly are we developing. Our game, Welcome to Ponyville (WtP), is almost more of a story than a game. Based on My Little Pony Friendship is Magic, owned and created by Hasbro and Lauren Faust, this visual novel styled game sets you as the new pony in Ponyville. With a focus on story over fancy gimmicks you'll get to interact with over 50 characters from the show, perform various jobs and quests as well as handle multiple crisis situations. Driven by a decision-based system, WtP is designed to never be the exact same game twice. Every decision made has an impact on the characters, the world and ultimately feeds into two intertwining main stories. Each of the 50+ characters have their own unique stories to tell and experience, with a handful of subplots to interact with, and a plethora of Easter eggs for you to enjoy.

Does Filly Gamez want to compete with other projects?

I am actually surprised that some have had this impression. We are in no way competing with any other group, team, or project in this community. Quite the opposite. We are very excited to see what our fellow development teams have to offer and are open to cooperating with other groups. The strong point of this community is that we all came together, united by a love of ponies. These same ponies follow the motto “Love and Tolerate,” and we intend to do the same. We have partnerships with Midnight MagicProductions, the creators of “The Vinyl Scratch Tapes,” the podcast show “The Lightning Round,” and cooperation agreements with Equestria Daily and the creators of “My Little Investigations,” Equestrian Dreamers, and we are hoping to team up with more projects. During BroNYCon we had the opportunity to meet members of the teams creating Ponykart and MLP Online and we can say they are a terrific bunch! Simply put, we do not wish to compete with anyone. We are merely adding one more piece to this already incredibly gifted community.

Wondering why we're making the game and where we get our ideas and content from?

WtP is designed as a game by bronies for bronies. We have pulled ideas, artists, voice actors, and musicians from the community. Certainly there is plenty of original content and story within the game, but that isn't what WtP is about. This game is about you, the community. It is all of you that gave the inspiration for this game. We want to give all of you the chance to experience your own lives in Ponyville with your favorite characters, and in your own individual way. Our team comes from well known to unknown talents, from Balloon Party [Balloon Party on Facebook] musicians to first time voice actors. Fame isn't what matters, what matters is you the community. In short, we get most of our ideas and content from all of you. You are our inspiration and this game is not only a thank you to the creators of MLP FIM, but a thank you to all of you for being the best community ever.
